Alpha Kappa Omega Fraternity, Inc. will be holding our annual Vision Talent Showcase on May 6th inside Morris Dailey Auditorium at San Jose State University!

This year we will be partnering with The Tides Foundation in accepting donations and contributing toward the tsunami relief effort through the Tides Rapid Response Fund. The Rapid Response Fund, which has channeled emergency relief in response to crisis situ…ations around the globe for nearly ten years, pools donors’ resources to increase the impact of their giving. Tides staff works to ensure the money is received by effective grassroots and advocacy organizations working for short-term relief as well as for long-term economic and structural change.

To reserve will call tickets, please email akomegavision2011@gmail.com with your name and the amount of tickets you would like to reserve.

Please come out and support the brothers of Alpha Kappa Omega, these local and up and coming artists, and more importantly the efforts to provide relief to those victims of the Tsunami in Japan.

Tickets are $10 Pre-Sale & $12 at the door.

Featuring our headlining performances by:

Kero One

Hopie Spitshard

Hopie Spitshard is not your average vocalist. Really. First, she independently released her debut album, The Diamond Dame, in July 2008, immediately garnering national attention and a nomination for URBâs Next 1000. Then, Hopie did a 180 & took a short hiatus to earn her doctorate from U.C. Hastings, emerging only to release 2 music videos & a T-shirt series w/ Adapt Clothing, & to perform at Paid Dues in April 2010. Now, as the ink on her law degree dries, Hopie is again returning to the music scene with an eclectic body of work, her second full-length album, Raw Gems. She has worked with some of the following: Del the Funky Homosapien, Bambu, J Billion, Nump and more.

So Timeless

www.sotimeless.com

“So Timeless”, originally known as “Timeless” in the San Francisco Bay Area, was established in 2004 by Johnny “Jonah” Johnson. “So Timeless” is now a complete production team, having morphed from its roots as a live band. The collection of artists and musicians was assembled with the purpose of providing live entertainment for shows, benefit concerts, weddings, festivals, etc; and with the goal to produce albums throughout different genres of music.

The Substitute Teachers
http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Substitute-Teachers/13096917517

The Substitute Teachers is a hip hop duo from California, composed of emcees Chris Gatsby and IO Hustle. Initially starting out as a spur-of-the-moment side-project, the Substitute Teachers became a fully fledged hip hop group in the summer of 2007. Taking their underground roots literally, they recorded their first project The Lesson Plan, in one of the group memberâs basement. Released in the beginning of 2008, The Lesson Plan, was received positively, attributing its success to a blend of skilled lyricism and humor that was missing from hip hop at the time.

The Associates

http://www.getassociated.net/

Grinding is a word hustlers use to describe their struggle. Itâs a word that embodies Hip-Hop culture and what The Associates have been doing way before the Fresh Prince was on TV Land. The Associates, made up of rapper, Corleone and producer, stkee combine to create a sound that challenges the definition of music, at the same time taking you through the Bay Area streets from their perspective. With their typical Bay Area upbringing they bring to the Hip-Hop world an atypical outlook. Both stkee and Corleone were on their own grinds when they met through Alpha Kappa Omega fraternity and realized they both saw music as the glue that kept their lives together.

Jayne Baltazar, Gerald Fermin, Arct Tabanas, and BJ Tran

For Gerald Fermin, Jayne Baltazar, Arct Tabanas and BJ Tran, having a good time comes natural. It all started when their cover of Kid Cudi’s - Erase me went viral and viewers from around the world
asked for more. Making youtube videos was only the beginning for their music careers; from offers to do shows around the country, to collaborating with other youtube artists to recording in professional studios, the sky’s the limit for these four.
Only time can tell how far these four could go. But for now these four artists are still regular college students, who have part time jobs and simply enjoying life as it should be.
If this is your first time hearing about Gerald Fermin, Jayne Baltazar, Arct Tabanas and BJ Tran, this won’t be your last.
